On February 6, 2024, the devastating earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border region will mark its anniversary. At 01:17 local time, one year ago, the ground trembled with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale. Just over 9 hours later, an equally powerful aftershock with a magnitude of 7.5 followed. Nearly 60,000 people lost their lives on that day. Over 100,000 others were seriously injured. Approximately 20 million people still suffer from the catastrophic consequences.

However, as public attention waned, this vital support has also been dwindling. Meanwhile, the dire situation of the affected individuals has scarcely improved.

It's time to effectively awaken the public and once again appeal to their humanity, with the help of a symbolic quake that brings the drama in the Turkish-Syrian border region into the media spotlight:

On the anniversary of the catastrophe, all of Germany is set to tremble in a symbolic way – from advertising spaces on digital screens in public spaces to the largest German websites and even on popular TV shows. Even the biggest music streaming provider will make its sound tremble on this day. Everyone can participate – from engaged citizens and popular influencers to media companies with a wide reach.

With this coordinated nationwide action, we aim to concentrate the attention of the population under #TheBigShakeup and reignite the urgently needed willingness to donate from individuals, companies, and institutions.
